What we publish
Jadeship publishes individual product reviews, comparison tables, buying explainers and vendor service notes across jadeite and nephrite jewelry. Every review is tied to a specific piece we ordered and tested, not to a category impression or a press release.
Sourcing and samples
We buy review units at retail with our own funds. If a vendor sends an unsolicited sample, we either return it or pay for it at the listed price before any testing begins, and we say so in the review. Gifts, discount codes offered for coverage and offers to waive shipping in exchange for a write-up are declined or disclosed.
Scoring
We use a five-point scale: 5 excellent, 4 good, 3 adequate, 2 poor, 1 very poor, written as X / 5. Hands-on scores for products our team ordered and tested may occupy the full 1 to 5 scale. Category scores feed a weighted overall score that is set at the bench before a page is written.
Paid placement
We do not sell reviews, score changes, roundup slots or best-of positions, and we do not run sponsored posts inside the review feed. Retailer links are added after scoring and are disclosed on every page that carries them.
Conflicts of interest
Editors may not hold stock in, or take payment from, a vendor they cover, and may not review a piece they sold or appraised for a fee. Any past working relationship with a vendor is noted in the review.
Accuracy and authorship
Every review is written by a named editor on our staff. Measurements come from our own bench logs. Software-generated text must not substitute for bench observations or editorial verification, and a vendor's claim must not be presented as our own finding.
Updates
Reviews carry a publication date and a last-checked date. Retests follow our retest policy and changes of substance follow our corrections policy.
Sources and limits
A laboratory memo is identified by its issuer, piece and scope. Bench readings are reported within their limits and do not become an appraisal, provenance certificate or unverified treatment guarantee.
